This article is devoted to an effective way to develop the ability to carry out self-assessment and assessment of younger schoolchildren. Formation of evaluative skills in schoolchildren, which are the basis of learning ability, is one of the important tasks of elementary school. The assessment must be fair, motivating and contribute to the development of the child's personality. The teacher must adapt assessment methods to the needs and abilities of each student. Evaluation skills include not only the ability to analyze and compare, but also to critically evaluate and explain the results of one's work with incredible depth and accuracy. In this article, we will look at some techniques that will help us form adequate self-esteem in younger schoolchildren. It is important to note that special attention should be paid to the individual characteristics of each child and the creation of a favorable educational environment that promotes the development of assessment skills.
