Identifying and interpreting exoticisms in translations of roumanian folktales into French language is an interesting lexical, phonetic, stylistic and culturological exercise. Translating the nouns of concepts belonging to a foreign worldview is not an easy task. But motivated preservation of eloquent elements of the source language, either as intact inlays or as lexical units assimilated into the target language, promotes the successful transposition not only of the message of the source text, but also of the spirit and emotion that accompany it in the original version. Studying them separately is a good opportunity to explore and penetrate the national specificity of the Romanian language in terms of expressiveness and translatability.
