dc.description.abstract The article is describing one of the functions of professional supervision in the field of social assistance, which consists in the provision of peer professional support and counselling with the view to prevent social assistants’stress and professional burnout. It is stressed that the role of supervisor does not mean staff supervision only; on the contrary, it also means control of the team and one’s self. An efficient supervisor must identify and use adequate sources of information about supervision and master methods and techniques of self-protection. en_US
