Abstract:
Administrative-territorial reform is one of the most significant and important changes in a society. Most European countries with similar sizes and populations to the Republic of Moldova have adopted one-tier administrative-territorial systems, as is the case with the Baltic countries, and especially Latvia, the model of which we will continue to evoke.
In the Republic of Moldova, decentralization reform is only in its incipient phase, while Latvia has years of experience in this respect. Therefore, her experience could be studied and taken over by the Republic of Moldova in order to make the entire decentralization process more efficient.
