The crowdfunding is a new funding mechanism that consists in collecting of financial resources from the large public conversely for a reward, by launching on-line platforms of advertisements on projects that need the funds. In this paper are relating the theoretical approach to crowdfunding provided by the speciality literature, the operating mode, the advantages and disadvantages of this funding instrument, some statistical data on financing through crowdfunding, the role of this financing tool for the small business sector.
