The publication focuses on the process of formation and development of the Romanian language troupe within the Moldovan-Russian Dramatic Theater "V. Alecsandri" in Balti. It traces the evolution of this artistic group, selected from people’s theatre circles, into professional actors, highly appreciated in the Republic of Moldova and abroad. The troupe's successes and failures, conditioned by objective and subjective factors, have been pointed out, as well as its repertory and its continuous struggle not only for survival, but also for the incessant raising of the quality of theatrical posters and performances. The article underlines the precarious conditions in which the troupe was formed and worked until it separated from the Moldovan-Russian Theater and an independent National Theater was established. The article may be of interest for artists and theater lovers.
