In this paper is analyzed the conditions of cases of underperformance of pupils. Based on the results identified it is described the major reasons leading to such situations. One of the purposes of research undertaken is to determine the level of involvement of parents in school life and the investigation provided to the progress of pupils. An important factor in this context is the temporary absence of one or both parents. The ways of overcoming cases of underperformance, we formulate some practical recommendations.
