The analysis of similarity conveys a technique of analyzing data aimed at revealing the underlying structures from the perimeter of a representational field. It is the investigational tool that offers the possibility to highlight the strong links existing between the items of the free association, the answers to a questionnaire of characterization, or the counting units clipped during a content analysis. When applying it, the specialists can observe that the higher the number of subjects who interpret two conceptual constructions in the same manner, the closer the two conceptual constructions are to each other. Without being, in J.-C. Abric's words, "a measure or a centrality control", this investigational tool allows, at the same time, the advancing of some challenging hypotheses as to the essential components of what is called "theories of the common sense".
