dc.description.abstract Current research on the occurrence and spread of the "Spanglish" phenomenon allows us to identify three main types of units that may be related to this phenomenon: (1) the lexical units taken from Spanish and English which are used simultaneously in a sentence or phrase, (2) the semantic loans from English into Spanish and (3) the lexical units from English that occur in Spanish speech, being adapted beforehand to the phonic, graphic and grammatical conventions of the Spanish language. This article presents an in-depth analysis of the phenomenon mentioned above and it is based on some examples taken from the daily discourse encountered in Central and South-America countries. It also makes a reference to the linguistic situation in Moldova where «rumaruso "and" rumañol " is a similar phenomenon to "Spanglish ". en
