Abstract: In the course of this study, it is necessary to understand what artificial intelligence is, how it is used in higher education and what problems and perspectives in this direction exist in the Republic of Moldova. The topicality of the topic is related to the fact that currently there is a significant discrepancy between the interest in the use of artificial intelligence in education and its actual implementation. The authors conclude that artificial intelligence is not at all a competitor for teachers, neither in teaching nor in assessing students' knowledge. Artificial intelligence is an auxiliary but valuable tool that can perform and improve a large number of different operations carried out in a university, helps to organize an effective educational process and build the necessary communication. The effective use of artificial intelligence technologies in higher education will allow the selection of the most optimal learning strategy, adapted to the individual skills and needs of students and the needs of the labor market.
