Abstract: Wine terminology represents a vast field that is continuously developing. The variety of this terminology is determined by the importance of vine growing and winemaking in the Republic of Moldova. Since the term "wine" comes from the Latin "vinum", we observe common roots of the word in Fr. "vin", It. "vino", En. "wine", Ger. "Wein". And the wine lexicon enriches the current language with an astonishing varietyof terms, either technical, such as:"thermoregulation" or "cryoconcentration", or of foreign origin, for example: "fine wine" or "flying winemaker". On the other hand, we observe the appearance of metaphors based on analogies of form (weight, etc.), flavor (spicy, fruity, refined, etc.), character (soft, swirly, etc.), space (Italian, French, etc.) etc. The present article could be analyzed from both perspectives, etymologically and lexically.
