Abstract: The article examines the concepts of demilitarization and denazification as the declared aims of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, started on 24.02.2022. The strain in Russian-Ukrainian relations has lasted since 2014, since Russia's annexation of Crimea and declaration of independence of the separatist regions of Donetsk and Lugansk. The premise of Russia's invasion of Ukraine was Russia's recognition of the independence and defense of the population of these regions on 21.02.2022. The concept of demilitarization is explored through the prism of public international law, showing direct connections with the opposite concept of militarization and militarism as a global phenomenon. The concept of Nazification is exposed through the prism of the existence of extreme right-wing parties in general, providing counter-arguments against the neo-Nazi seizure of state power in Ukraine.
