Abstract: In a constantly changing business and academic environment, the term startup is becoming increasingly popular. This article provides a clear definition of a startup and highlights its main features, as one of the urgent methodological issues is the lack of a unified approach to defining the main features of startups. To do this, it is necessary to analyze the existing approaches in the scientific and business environment for the definition and classification of startups.
