Abstract: International legal cooperation by law enforcement institutions is based on international agreements, bilateral or multilateral, concluded with other states, as well as on the ratification of international conventions, which regulate a number of legal institutions with applicability in preventing and combating violent crimes. At present, the effective way to combat cross-border and transnational crime must involve a regional and international dimension, in addition to the national dimension, through the united convergent action of the judiciary bodies in all countries. Although most states have laws to combat crime and punish perpetrators, they prove being insufficient to effectively and efficiently counter the phenomenon of transnational crime, as combating crime at the national level, however competent, remains an action with limited influence opposed to the international character of the phenomenon.
