Abstract: Modern agriculture is facing many challenges, including global warming. Industrial model of agricultural intensification isn′t adapted to the new created situation during the last 20-25 years and it requires significant structural changes. Noncompliance of crop rotation and a huge annual non compensated deficit of soil organic matter are contributing to further degradation of Cernozem soils in the Republic of Moldova, stabilization and reduction of the level of yields in the conditions of global warming. The article is examining short and long-term measures for the transition to a more sustainable farming system, more resilient to climate changes.
