Abstract: Current statistical data show that a large number of children in the Republic of Moldova have the status of children separated from their parents, and the system of protection and social assistance diversifies its methodology of prevention and intervention in working with this category of children. We consider it necessary to identify the specifics of social assistance for children separated from their parents. This article contains theoretical information on the process of identifying ways for young people to overcome addictions through social services. It reflects the concept of social services, the typology and quality of social services for children at risk and for children separated from their parents, about alternative forms of social protection, the importance of social worker activity in providing support for children separated from parents. Experimental research results that integrate with theoretical research can also be found. Thus, the research results showed that the family of origin remains a significant value for children separated from their parents. The interpretation of the research results highlights the fact that children separated from their parents benefit from a diverse range of social services, the process of social assistance of this category of beneficiaries being a multidisciplinary one.
