dc.description.abstractOne of the most current nutritional problems on the worldwide scale has become the iodine deficiency, which has a negative impact from public health to socio-economic performance. The article presents the importance of iodine in human growth and development, and also, the use of iodine in different domains of life. Iodine is an essential component of the thyroidian hormones, and the monitoring of iodine intake is an extremely effective approach to reduce the diverse consequences, such as goiter, hypothyroidism, spontaneous abortion, infant mortality, cretinism, and other severe sequelae of iodine deficiency throughout the life cycle.en_US
