Abstract: The authors write a bout the role of Information Literacy which is a fundamental requirement in the study and research process, the course being included in the USARB curricula. For the first year of study, the Basics of Information Literacy Course is of 30-hours (1 credit) component of general abilities and skills training and assessed through the accepted / rejected qualification. Thus, librarians, as members of the educational community, use their creative potential and professional opportunities, actively contributing to the educational process, helping students develop information skills, forming a critical thinking style appropriate to the information society requirements. This is expressed by the ability to analyze the informational environment, to adapt to the technological environment through the use of tools, remote resources, open access, obtaining the necessary skills in the training of highly qualified specialists.
