Abstract: This article is devoted to the research of the development of the theory of categorical syllogism, conducted by the Romanian logician F. Tutugan in the 50-60s of the last century. On the basis of the introduction of negative terms in attributive (categorical) judgments, he managed to prove that, out of 2,048 possible modes of syllogism with three terms, 192 are formally correct (instead of 24 correct modes with positive terms out of 256 possible in classical logic). By means of classical logic, the author of this article simplified the derivation of 192 formally correct modes of syllogism with positive and negative terms.
