Abstract

Industrialization of agriculture has led to the aggravation of economic ecologic and social problems of agriculture. A new concept of agricultural intensification based on a more intensive recycling of nutrients and energy inside of each farm instead of increased inputs of nonrenewable sources of energy and their derivates (mineral fertilizers, pesticides) should be considered in order to increase the sustainability of agriculture. State policy should support environment and social friendly systems of agriculture. The dynamic of economic and energetic efficiency for production of different field crops in the Republic of Moldova for the period 1966-2009 are analyzed in order to prove the urgent need for the transition to a more sustainable agriculture.
