Abstract: Chat is an unexploited tool for language learning and teacher development. Teachers should especially consider the collaborative construction of knowledge that can take place through chat. Social constructivism emphasizes the importance of learning through social interaction and collaboration (von Glaserfeld, 1989), and chat seems to be the ideal space for this kind of learning.
