Abstract: In Journal Franz Kafka reveals his inner world with feelings, complexes and its sorrows. The refrain of all reflections is the apologia of literature and writing. He has a great confidence in the power of literature and is skeptical about his ability to write. The writer is being saved through writing. For Kafka, writing is first of all confession. At the same time the journal projects the saddest and most Kafkaesque character. The sadness of this character derives from his loneliness which is a tragic one. Thus, the journal projects a veritable mythology of grievance and of living in the name of writing.
