Abstract

The article considers the intellectual heritage of a prominent representative of the Russian school of thought from the end of the 19th century - beginning of the 20th century N.D. Kondratyev, which is the scientific base of the process of prediction. Kondratyev divides the problem of forecasting into four questions: „1) What is the essence of forecasting?; 2) What are the preconditions it is based upon?; 3) What with and how can we determine the limits of its possibilities?; 4) What are the main types and forms of forecasting?”. The phenomenon of chain-marketing as a modern perspective direction is pointed out in the last type of forecasting. At the basis of this type lies the stimulus of profit distribution between all the chains that take part in the promotion of goods and services from the manufacturer to the final consumer.
