Abstract

In the article is analyzed the ability of the students to access and search the online catalog by topic. Information search skills are very important in students independent work. The study has helped to establish the level of competence for the thematic search and the difficulties they faced in the formulation of subject headings. Deficiencies of the search engine, greatly influencing the quality of search are marked. It is proposed to devote more time teaching students in the course "Basics of information culture" and eliminate erros in the subject headings.
